10 Outdoor Activities to Try This Spring

Spring is a great time to get moving and support your heart health. As the days get longer and the weather warms up, the outdoors becomes a perfect space to stay active. Here are 10 enjoyable ways to make the most of the season:

  1. Try a New Sport
Whether it’s tossing horseshoes or playing a round of golf, engaging in a sport—even casually—can be a great form of physical activity.
  2. Go for a Swim
Swimming is a full-body workout that’s easy on the joints. It’s a refreshing and effective way to stay fit.
  3. Play with Your Kids
Fun and fitness go hand in hand when you’re active with your children. Head to the park, shoot some hoops, or enjoy a game of tag.
  4. Do Some Gardening
Spring gardening is more active than you might think—pulling weeds, raking, mowing, and planting can all add up to a satisfying workout.
  5. Take a Bike Ride
Plan a scenic ride that matches your ability level. It’s an easy way to enjoy the outdoors while getting your heart rate up.
  6. Dance It Out
Dancing is a fun and rhythmic way to improve your heart health. All you need is your favorite playlist, some space, and comfortable shoes.
  7. Go for a Hike
Hiking offers physical benefits along with beautiful scenery. Pick a trail that suits your fitness level and pack the essentials for safety.
  8. Tackle Spring Cleaning
Your annual deep clean can double as a workout. Sweeping, lifting, and organizing indoors—and in the yard—can get your body moving.
  9. Walk While You Shop
A productive shopping trip can count as exercise. All that walking (and carrying bags) adds up!
  10. Bake and Deliver
If you’re staying close to home, baking some treats and delivering them to neighbors on foot can be a sweet way to sneak in some steps.

Note: Always listen to your body and keep activity within your limits. Be sure to check with your doctor before beginning any new exercise routine.
